Labor Day Holiday

Don’t miss our next meeting, on Monday, September 20.

David Berman, PhD of ASU will discuss Radicalism in the Mountain West—The Case of Arizona 1890-1920. He appears courtesy of the Arizona Humanities Council (www.azhumanities.org) ‘Road’ Scholar Speakers Bureau. This presentation explores the radical movement in the Southwest – a movement in which people were not simply trying to reform the capitalist system but to replace it with something they felt was better. By giving special emphasis to Arizona and the state’s mining areas, Dr. Berman provides an overview of the development of radical activity through the party system and through the union movement.

The meeting begins at 10:00 am in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library , and Dr. Berman will begin his presentation at 10:30 sharp. The meeting is free and open to the public. A Potluck luncheon will follow for those who wish to participate.

The Library Friends of Payson Bookstore is featuring an End-of-Summer Clearance of hardback books.  Come in and pick-up a fresh supply of books for those lazy, summer afternoons.  Hardback books will be on sale at two for the price of one throughout August.  As always, the second book must be of equal or lesser value than the first.

For the sake of our environment, the Payson Public Library and the Library Friends of Payson Bookstore will no longer offer plastic grocery bags for carrying books.  However, sturdy recycled tote bags with the library logo are available for only $1.50.  Purchase several at this great price and carry them in your car for use at the library, the grocery store, or any shopping stops.

Bookstore stock changes daily, so stop by often.  Bookstore volunteers are always happy to see you.  The Bookstore is located to the right of the circulation desk just inside the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road.
