On Saturday night, March 9th 2013, the Payson Public Library served as the center of the community as hundreds of people crowded into the librarys annual Taste of the Rim event. The taste testers voted the Zane Grey Restaurant and Saloon the Best of the Best this year. The Journigan House came in a close second and Gerardos Firewood Cafe took third although it seemed like everyone had their favorite dish from the offerings of the participants.

MISSION:  The Library Friends of Payson, Inc., is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide financial and community support to the Payson Public Library. We believe that public libraries comprise an integral aspect of community identity and development, and we support endeavors that encourage literacy and free inquiry within the individual, the family, and society.

HISTORY:  Like many of Rim Country's finest service organizations, "The Library Friends" were established as a 'grassroots' effort to support the growing Payson Public Library.

We have evolved from just providing books -- to purchasing computers and other equipment & funding Public Library programs that would not otherwise be covered in its Town and County budget.

SERVICES WE PROVIDE: We offer a Free Library Services for Homebound Individuals - through our "Library Buddy Program." We also purchase books and supplies for Payson Public Library.

PROJECTS WE SPONSOR:  We are an Annual Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce Business  Showcase participant.

The Library Friends of Payson Bookstore is featuring Science Fiction and Western books as it’s, two for the price of one, April special.  Recently, we have received large donations of both Science Fiction and Western books.  This is a great opportunity for fans of either genre to stock up on summer reading material.  As always the second book must be of equal or lesser value than the first.

Another April special is standard sized paperback books at the low, low price of 8 for $1.00.  April is just the right time to gather up lots of paperbacks by your favorite authors for summer vacation reading. Paperbacks are great companions at the beach, on a plane, or in the car. At this low price one doesn’t have to worry about damage from the surf or leaving them behind at vacation destinations.

Stop by and browse the Bookstore’s ever-changing stock.  You never know what treasures might be discovered on our shelves.  The LFOP Bookstore is located to the right of the circulation desk just inside the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road.
